Beyond Opinion Book Review

Whew! If I had known how deep the book was I would not have chosen it. It is full of interesting reading, but is written for the more intellectuals. Many authors share their apologetics about different religions, including atheists. All of the authors are authentic and have been involved in these religions at one time, so one can trust anything that is written about the subject. I gave it four stars because it is good informative reading, but it was too deep for me to say I enjoyed the book.

Friendship for Grownups, by Lisa Whelchel

Lisa seemed to be completely honest about her inadequacies. She speaks from her heart, which she earnestly desires to be all God would have her to be. I still saw some of "Blair" in her personality, which I believe was the "superiority" to cover up the inferiority complex. She needed friends to build her up, but she discovered that she just needed to be Lisa. I have never heard her speak in person, but the book reveals a lot about her.

Walk Like You Are Going Somewhere

The book is good reading even though it left me with mixed emotions. Do I feel sorry for Ms O'Neal for her unfulfilled life? I found it hard to feel sorry for her. She wrote it today as a strong woman, so that might be why she didn't come across as a weak person in her past. She used the term "mental welfare" which meant, in her case, having no self-worth, no self-love. Of course, being Shaquille's mother, she has to dwell a lot on him, more so than her other children. Read it and form your opinion.

Book Review - Plain Paradise

Plain Pradise is good reading. I finished the book in three days. I have read many of the Amish themed books and have liked them all. This book, though, gives me food for thought. I wonder if the author did a lot of research about the Amish culture. Why would a girl who wears long dresses, long sleeves and a prayer cap be allowed to wear a bathing suit and swim with just her boyfriend and herself? Just wondering, but it is good reading.

Everyone Communicates Few Connect

John Maxwell is an amazing man when it comes to connecting with people. In his book, he talks about how important it is that we connect with people before we try to communicate something to them or they will not receive the message we are trying to give. This book is almost a "can't lay down" read. As I was reading, I felt more inadequate. I hope I can apply some of John' s methods of connecting with people. This subject should be a required school course.
